Timberwind Farm was established in the spring of 2017, we have been small hobby farmers for the last 10 years raising only chickens for meat and eggs. We did this for the sole reason that when we left our family farm in 2001 we had a hard time finding the same quality from a grocery store.  We now raise premium grass fed Angus Beef, Organically fed Pork, Chicken, Rabbits, Turkeys, and free range/organically fed layers.

Starting in the spring of 2018 we will be growing a variety of vegetables, although we are renting land at the moment we have agreements in place for Organic transitioning, which means we have to cultivate using organic methods only for three years and pass an inspection on the third year before certification can take place. You will be able to find us every Saturday morning at the Creemore Farmers market since May 19th 2018.

Where it all started

In 1991 my father, after being retired for some time decided to purchase a farm in Bright Ontario, a small town nestled between Woodstock and Kitchener. I wasn't married yet so nothing was holding me back from joining my parents on this farming adventure.  It started out slow as my fathers methods in my opinion, where a little outdated. Everything had to be done by hand with minimal machinery. The tractor pictured to the right was our workhorse with a two furrow plow which he rarely used. His preferred method for tilling gardens was by hand and cutting hay was with a scythe and he was pretty good at it to boot! I was more of the conventional type, pro machinery, technology and as much as he hated it I always defended the use of pesticides and herbicides, Dad was all about Organic! As time went on we raised cattle, chickens, Goats (every farm needs goats, they are a hoot) But it wasn't until we were talked in to raising pigs that shit hit the fan, literally!

At some point in my life I may write a book so that I can finish this story.

Long story short, I got married we had Two children on the farm and moved to Barrie. Shortly after we had three more children and moved to New Lowell Ont. We're Still here and believe it or not I have seemed to develop my fathers beliefs and methods of farming, namely the Organic movement, I realized that we have to be aware of what we put in our bodies our soil and the air we breathe. We need to do this for the future of our planet and our children and of course the Bees!

Together we can make a difference!
